HISTORY

The MitreoFilmFestival was born, from an idea of Rino Della Corte, in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Caserta), in 2000, with the prerogative of helping and giving visibility to young Italian film-makers.

In the same year the Mitreo Film Festival Cultural Association was born, with the presence of numerous Sammaritans, cinema lovers and united by the desire to safeguard and develop the cultural growth of their territory. Paola Mattucci Ventriglia has always been its president, supported by the project manager FrancescoPaolo Ventriglia.

Over the years, there have been many activities, in addition to the festival, which represents the final phase of an entire working year.

The association has been committed and is engaged in the audiovisual production sector with documentaries, video clips, art videos, short films, in film education with screenings, conferences, seminars, meetings, film workshops and in the experimentation of new forms of communication, web television.

Numerous cash prizes and plaques were distributed to young Italian authors in the three competitive competitions, Documentary Competition, Short Film Competition and Short Screenplay Competition; special prizes were awarded to personalities from the world of entertainment, journalism and culture who have distinguished themselves in social commitment for their work; they were supported, through the production of the first work, of young authors, who today work in the world of cinema; many students of all levels were able to attend, free of charge, the screenings of short films, documentaries and films; many young people actively participated in the Film Workshops on legality, making about 60 short films with the MitreoFilmFestival; authors, directors, film critics, journalists, producers, representatives of institutions were hosted in the area with an economic impact that involved hotel and restaurant facilities and contributed to giving visibility to our artistic beauties.

In the course of its activity, the Association has contributed considerably to spreading tradition, legality and civic sense and, overcoming many difficulties, has kept its social purpose unaltered, which still today is to give space and voice to young people through the audiovisual sector.

Since 2013 the Artistic Director is Lucilla Mininno.

The MitreoFilmFestival is part of the CFCC (Coordination of the Campania Film Festival) of the CLERCC (Committee for a regional law in Campania) and is one of the promoters of the RAC audiovisual network of Caserta.
